Christmas in April--a Food Drive for Caroline County

How many lives can be touched by a couple of jars of peanut butter or boxes of cereal or cans of soup?  Perhaps just a few?  But think how that can be multiplied when this community of good neighbors joins in sharing some of what they have.  And what better time than when many Caroline County residents are facing tough economic hardships.

These are the seeds for growing Hungry to Help (H2H), this year's Christmas in April.  H2H is a community-wide food drive to fill the food pantries serving Caroline County families in need.  With you and your work associates, or neighbors, or classmates getting involved, our goal is to have over 500 grocery bags of food donated and delivered to Wright's Chapel United Methodist Church by Saturday, April 24th.  Yes, it's an ambitious community project.  But the good news is that a number of churches, schools, businesses, and neighborhoods are already collecting food for H2H.

You ask, "Can I help?"  You Bet!  If you're "hungry to help," take a look in your pantry to see what non-perishable food items you can share.  Or when out grocery shopping, add a few jars, boxes, or cans to your cart to donate.  Just like that, you've become part of Hungry to Help.  And with just that little effort, you have made a big difference in the lives of others.  Through the support of Food Lion in Ladysmith you can also purchase an assortment of food items for H2H at the store's check-out.  To make it even easier, your H2H purchases will be collected by the store and delivered for you.

Donated bags of non-perishable foods can be dropped off at Wright's Chapel United Methodist Church on Mondays (9:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.), Tuesdays (9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.), Wednesdays (9:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m.) and Thursdays (9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.)

Christmas in April Dinner

Oh! And by the way, you're invited to a traditional Christmas dinner at Wright's Chapel on Saturday, April 24th. Dinner is served from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. 400 tickets are available for dinner. If you plan to attend, we encourage you to purchase your tickets in advance ($10 for adults and $5 for children age 10 and under.) Any left-over tickets will be sold at the door. Food for the dinner has been purchased with special donations. Money raised from the dinner will be used to continue the mission to keep our food pantries full and take care of our own in Caroline County, a community coming together.
