Wednesday Meetings
What are Wednesday
meetings like? Typically, it starts with some social time
and snacks because
you're probably starved. Then there's Theme Time followed
by Chapel Time. Theme Time revolves around your
participation in a game or activity that's fun and gets you
thinking. It may be about prayer, your relationship with
God, or simply believing in yourself and what you can accomplish
with a little faith. Once you get the idea, you split into
discussion groups with others your age to learn from each other
and share what you think. Chapel Time is a short worship
service to hear a positive message that you can remember and use
in real life. You might volunteer to sometimes participate
in the service, perhaps in a skit or music. And everyone
joins in singing a few hymns or praise songs backed up by Randy
on the guitar.
Next comes Mission Time when you break into teams to plan and
work on community service projects. Examples of projects
include delivering split firewood. You'll come to realize
that there are folks in Caroline County who rely on firewood for
heating and even cooking. Another has been writing to
soldiers in the military and sending them care packages.
There have been some cooking projects to prepare snacks for
Sundays following worship service. And there's been an
agreement with a local grocery store to clean up parking lot
litter and return grocery carts in exchange for donated canned
goods that you can give to those needing food. If you're
interested you might sew gifts for the Christmas bazaar or build
something to use around the church. At least once a year,
everyone pitches in to make subs for a CIA fundraiser.
When you've been to a Wednesday meeting, you're going to want to
come again.
